Let’s Talk about the Girls!
Our girls are our friends, first and foremost. They naturally make amazing mothers with their loving and caring personalities. The majority of their life though, is being companions.
When the family is gone and I’m home alone, you often will find me working or playing outside surrounded by my beautiful pack. They have their favorite spot under the kitchen table or a certain chair in the living room. Some prefer the middle of the room to nap and couldn't care less what’s happening around them or who steps over them. I might be outside, sitting on the wooden swing, updating puppy families, with the dogs laying around me, or else throwing our favorite rubber ball for them to bring back to me. We often work on brushing up on the obedience skills. Whenever we can, we bring a dog or two on our errands to town, or to the local Christmas parade to continue their exposure.
In our home, there are definitely favorites between the different family members. It’s great to see those relationships develop and those individual dogs become extra special to a specific person.
The girls are so individual. There are little quirks about each one that make them unique. They all have the classic loving golden retriever personality, but each one is a bit different.
Each of our dogs are so good with the kids. Good with the kids is a must around here as I have young children as well as into the teenage years. I won't / wouldn’t keep a dog that I couldn’t trust with the young children. We teach our kids to respect the dogs and to treat them appropriately, but the dogs have their part in that also.
Shasta
This cream girl is not American born. She was born in the Ukraine and was imported here to Idaho. She comes from multi-generational top Champion showlines. Shasta is SO gentle and sweet. Not the nervous type of gentle, just legitimately sweet. When my toddler was a baby he’d get so frustrated with her. If he was fussing and crying, she’s try to comfort him. She’s go stand beside him and kind of curl her body around him. Which in turn make him just angrier as he felt trapped, not comforted. She tried though! Shasta loves to carry things in her mouth. Loves it! She’s not a destroyer. She doesn’t tear them up, just carries them.
Aria
(aR-ee-uh)
Aria came to me just seven weeks after Divya, although from completeIy different lines. I raised them together. Even before bringing Aria home, I had a gut feeling she was going to be one of those heart dogs. Sure enough, she has been. Aria enjoys retrieving, but she won’t compete with a group of dogs. If I throw a ball, and a few dogs take off, Aria will take off and then come back, realizing I’m alone and she can sneak in a snuggle. I’ve never had issues with Aria chewing, even as a pup, although she does love a good dirt patch to dig in or a puddle to lay in. That girl LOVES her water.
Bridget
Bridget is a sweet girl. She’s a bit more on the independent side. Enjoys being with her people but on her terms. She’s not really interested in playing with a ball but give her some water and this girl couldn’t be happier.
Her dad was born in Ireland, and her mom’s parents are from Yugoslavia and Serbia
Lark
Lark is our sweet and spicy girl, full of heart, smarts, and a natural zest for life. She’s incredibly people-oriented and loves nothing more than snuggling up close after a good round of fetch. Field-bred and athletic, Lark has a taller, leaner frame with a lighter coat, and she brings that same agility and drive to everything she does. Whether she’s laser focused during training or joyfully dropping a ball at our feet, she’s always eager to connect. Lark’s combination of intelligence, athleticism, and affectionate nature makes her an absolute joy to be around.
